NNP Weekend Entertainment Guide June 26th-28th: It’s Officially Summer!

Although there are plenty of reasons to stay in our Chicago apartment community and enjoy the park, pools, and outdoor decks, there are plenty of the festivals and special events that make Chicago summers great. Here are our top picks for the weekend of June 26th-28th.
Events
One of the biggest festivals of the year starts this weekend, the highly anticipated Taste of Chicago at Grant Park, within easy walking distance of Lakeshore East. If you miss it this weekend don’t worry it will be going on all week and next weekend too.

- There’s a free shuttle to Navy Pier
- Enjoy the fireworks that happen every Wednesday and Saturday night at Navy Pier
- Walk the Lakefront and catch a much-needed cool breeze, since temps are going to be over 90.
- Embark on Nike’s BMX Bike Tour
- Hop aboard one of Chicago’s many boat rides
- Or try the popular Architectural Boat Tour
On Sunday, head up north to Halsted and join the Pride Parade in its 40th year!
Popular restaurant moonshine in Wicker Park is hosting a Luau and Pig Roast this Saturday starting at noon.

If you want to get away from the downtown crowds and relax for a few hours, visit Jack’s Bar and Grill and hang out in their newly redone beer garden.
In Logan Square, 90 Miles Cuban Café featuring Cuban sandwiches and other traditional plates with plenty of outdoor seating, making it an ideal summer lunch option.

Summer Blockbuster Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, and Josh Duhamel is now playing.
