Chicago Apartments For Rent

Green Living

NNP Residential is conscious of the environment and has implemented several eco-friendly initiatives at both our corporate office and our managed Chicago apartments. It's one way we can give back and we hope you will join us in our quest to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Here are some of the little ways we are making a difference:

  • The newest addition to our portfolio, Aqua at Lakeshore East, is designed to comply with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
  • Recycling programs are available at our communities.
  • Energy saving light bulbs are used in the common areas as well as motion sensors for spaces that experience less use, like trash chute rooms.
  • Our offices take part in recycling programs for paper and toner cartridges and purchase recycled paper for necessary printing
  • Marketing materials for our Chicago apartments are printed on recycled paper.
  • Correspondence with residents and the newsletters are sent electronically in order to reduce our paper consumption.
  • NNP Residential encourages support of Earth Hour and actively participates by going dark for one hour.
  • Properties participate in clothing and furniture drives for residents to donate gently used items. This allows for items to be recycled and means less will end up in landfills.
  • Residents are encouraged to pay their rent via direct debit. This cuts down on the amount of mail sent and the paper checks. Not to mention that it is much more convenient!

Lakeshore East is one of Chicago's greenest communities.

  • Upon completion, the Lakeshore East community will boast 5,000,000 square feet of green and open space.
  • The Lakeshore East master plan maximizes views by planning over 3000 residences that will face green or open space
  • Lakeshore East features a 6-acre botanical park at its centerpiece. Not only does this provide recreation but it bringing 100 new species of flora and fauna for all to enjoy. In addition, the children's playground was made using recycled tires and the cascading fountains use re-circulated water.
  • Magellan Development's mission for Lakeshore East is to connect the site's open spaces in to Grant Park, Millennium Park, Chicago Riverwalk and the Lakefront park system.
  • Magellan Development provides an eco-friendly Propane powered courtesy shuttle to our homeowners and renters reducing the need for individuals to take cabs.
  • Lakeshore East supports IGO car sharing with the donation of two I-GO car stations allowing for hybrid vehicles in the community. Not only is this convenience to residents, but each I-GO car replaces 17 cars on the road, reducing emissions and congestion.
  • 340 on the Park is LEED certified
  • Low E Tinted Glass is used in order to reduce the amount of heating or air conditioning needed in homes.
  • Lakeshore East will include 15 green roofs upon completion and Aqua is planned to have the largest green roof amenity deck in Chicago.
